Obituary of Karen F. Komrowski
Karen Komrowski, 77, died peacefully at home surrounded by family after a thirteen year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Karen was born and orphaned in Watertown NY, then adopted as an infant by loving parents Jane (Lucy) and Samuel Kaiser. Karen attended St. Lawrence University where she was a member of the St. Lawrence Lariettes Ice Ensemble. She graduated from Syracuse University Magna Cum Laude with a Permanent Teaching Certification in Special Education. She was an extraordinary teacher and touched many student's lives during her 20+ years at Red Creek Central Schools. Karen served her church as a layperson and volunteered in the community delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering at sporting events as a member of the Cato Meridian JV football chain gang, and acting as a scribe for Baldwinsville Pop Warner football.
Karen was an avid crafter, creating ceramics, and sewing clothes; her specialty was ornamental Santa Clauses. With her beloved husband of 56 years, Harry, Karen grew the Maple Syrup business, Komrowski Maple Farm. She sold the family maple products at area bazaars and festivals for 30 years, and was well known for her hand-made maple leaf hat. Karen is survived by her loving husband, Harry, sister Natalie Taylor; children Peter (Donna), Jill (Arthur), Andrew (Misty); and 7 grandchildren. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 12th 4 -7PM at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. Services will be Wednesday, March 13th at 10 am at the funeral home.
