Obituary of Donald C. Kasmer

On February 20, 2019, Donald Kasmer, 83, entered eternal rest surrounded by his family. Donald was born on April 3, 1935. He was the son of Mary and Chester Kusnierczyk. He grew up on the west side of Syracuse. He was a 1953 graduate of Vocational High School. He loved athletics and lettered in basketball and Golf at Barton College in North Carolina. He continued his education at Syracuse University where he earned his master's degree and SUNY Cortland where he earned his administrative degree. Donald was a Physical Education teacher for 34 years with the Baldwinsville School District. He spent many years coaching basketball, football, and golf. He earned section III all league and state awards, was a member of section III Basketball and football committees, and finally entered in the Baldwinsville Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994. He had many affiliations over the years including The Syracuse Boys and Girls Club, Syracuse Brigadiers, Baldwinsville Athletics Association, Rascals, and the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity in college. In recent years he enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his family, going to Syracuse Chiefs games, and loved watching all Syracuse University sporting events. He was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, the Basilica in Syracuse. Surviving are a daughter, Wendi Ehresman (Kenneth) and sons Todd Kasmer (Debra) and Donald Kasmer Jr. of Utah. He is predeceased by his wife the late Joyce Kasmer. Calling hours will be held at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville NY 13027 on Sunday, February 24th, from 2-4 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204 on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 9:30 AM.
