So sorry to hear the news about Jim. Jim was one of my excellent instructors at Pack Forest/Warrensburg back in the 80s, and during the life-changing "Tully Semester." I saw him only once or twice a year for the last several years as colleagues at ESF, but he was always pleasant, helpful and funny when he visited us at the Ranger School. We will miss him very much.

Dear Halligan Family,
Although I didn't work closely with Jim here at SUNY-ESF, I would bump into him on campus regularly. He was a very kind person and a pleasure to chat with. My most sincerest condolences go out to the entire Halligan family.

To all the Halligans from the Millers (especially Mike Miller & Kristine Miller Johncox) we are very sorry for your loss. Jim was a great high school team mate (Mike, wrestling and track) and of course he was faster and stronger than most, but best of all he was friendly and fair. Jim was a person one could count on and be glad to have as a friend. His dad was at the school matches and I can imagine his pride in his family. I did get a chance to meet up with Jim a few years ago at his office when on campus. How time flies, even for "stumpies", I am certain he will be sorely missed.

I have known Jim for over 25 years as a student and a colleague at ESF. He was always a very good and helpful man as well an extremely kind soul. Jim always made time to help everyone in any way possible. Jim always brought a smile and laughter to all those he encountered and worked with. I have never known a better and kinder man than Jim. As I am sure he will be deeply missed by his family, loved ones and friends, I know he will be greatly missed and irreplaceable at ESF. His great laughter will echo through the halls of ESF forever. May God bless his family and friends during this sad time. Rest in peace Jim. We will always be thinking of you.

Stasia - I worked with Jim for many years at ESF. I enjoyed our conversations and truly appreciated his help with "technical" questions. He had a wonderful laugh and was always such a good guy. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Condolences to you, your daughter and all of Jim's family.

Stasia and the Halligan family-
Our prayers go out to you. The friendship and adventures I've shared with Jim through high school, college and beyond are priceless. Best man at my wedding, numerous canoeing adventures, track team (our coach said the new kid who just moved from Germany was a champion runner so the first day of practice we dropped Jim on the long run not knowing he hadn't run all winter causing him to get lost and finally following the railroad tracks back to school and arriving as it was getting dark), Woodsman team persuading me, a skinny cross country runner to run in the 50 pound pack race relay, studying for a wood identification test using Jim's "Taste and Crunch Test" key to supplement more traditional study methods as Jim was color blind and had to improvise when color was a major factor in identifying the wood blocks. He had great stories to tell, was always ready to lend a hand and a true friend. We miss you Jim.
