Obituary of Edward F. Donnelly

Edward F. Donnelly, 76, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away Monday morning, July 14, 2008. Born in Syracuse, he grew up in Camillus/Westvale and graduated from Solvay High School. In 1953, Ed graduated with a B.B.A. in Business Administration from LeMoyne College. After college, Ed was drafted into the Army and served in Fort Bliss, Texas where he taught missile defense for two years. After serving in the military, he moved back to Syracuse, married Elizabeth and moved to Baldwinsville. Ed worked for Crucible Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He started as a cost accounting clerk and finished as Manager of the growing Systems and Data Processing Department. He was a member of the Management Club while working and in retirement. Ed was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Baldwinsville; a member of its Legion of Mary; a past leader of Boy Scout Troop 119; and a long-time donor (over 98 units of blood) to the American Red Cross. He loved spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, good food, playing the guitar, home repairs, yard work, raising the American Flag, sailing, and summers on Lake Ontario and Cape Cod. Survivors: His wife of 48 years, the former Elizabeth Smith; two daughters, Kristen Bisson and husband Paul of Sudbury, MA, Kathleen Gentile and husband John of Burlington, CT; one son Edward Donnelly and his partner Tom Schnorr of Rochester, NY; four granddaughters; one grandson; and one brother Robert Donnelly and wife Mary Pat of East Aurora, NY. Services: 10:30am Friday, July 18, 2008 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville and 11:00am at St. Mary’s Church, Baldwinsville. Burial, Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
