Obituary of Melanie J. Soderberg

Melanie J. Soderberg, 47, passed away peacefully at home Friday, March 7, 2008, with her family by her side. She had courageously battled metastatic breast cancer for nine years. She was born on July 4, 1960 in Syracuse, NY and grew up in North Syracuse. She lived for ten years in Cicero and spent the last 15 years on Cross Lake in the Jordan-Elbridge school district. Melanie completed her BA, MS and MBA at SUNY Oswego. She last worked as an Inside Sales Manager at Future Electronics before “retiring” to devote her time to her children. She served as a deaconess at the First Presbyterian Church in Baldwinsville and became heavily involved in school activities. Melanie loved to cook, garden, travel and make crafts. She was an affectionate animal lover, treasured spending time boating on the lake and was a heartfelt supporter of the SU basketball and football teams. Melanie was a wonderful, caring wife and mother. She was a remarkable inspiration to her many friends and relatives. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, David, her son Paul, her daughter Kelsey, her mother and father Helen and William Johnson, her sister Gail Payne, her brother Frank Johnson, her mother-and father-in-law Marjorie and Dale Soderberg, and many sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Services: 11:00am Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, 64 Oswego St., Baldwinsville. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Warners. Calling hours are 2-4 & 7-9pm Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
