George A. Zacharek, 88, of Baldwinsville passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, at his home. He was born and raised in Syracuse and was a graduate of Eastwood High School. George was employed over the years with Lennox Furnace Co., O.M. Edwards Co., and Syracuse Tank and Manufacturing. A WW II veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served with the 99 Bomber Squadron-9thBomber Group. He was a member of the Phoenix VFW Post 5540 and the Eastwood American Legion Post 1276. George was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Children's Miracle Network Golf events, YMCA Folksmarch and was a videographer for PAC-B. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephania Hoysak and George Anthony Zacharek; his brothers, Walter Zacharek of Old Forge, Fred Zacharek of Vero Beach, FL and Edward Zacharek of Maryland; his daughter Sandy Zacharek and his second wife, Janet Marshall Zacharek. Survivors: his wife of 20 years, Cynthia A. Zacharek; his children, Deborah (Jerry) Rossi, Linda (Jack) Walsh, Stephanie Zacharek, Kent Zacharek and Charles (Kathy) Zacharek; his irst wife and mother of his children, Thelma Russell Barros; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins of the Hoysak and Zacharek clan. Services: 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 3, 2014, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Burial in Assumption Cemetery at a later date. Calling hours are 4-7pm Tuesday, September 3, 2014, at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street prior to the service. Contributions: Finger Lakes Trail Conference, Inc., 6111 Visitor Center Rd., Mt.
