Although my contacts with George were few, through the outdoor activities and organizations which we both favored, I knew him as a most congenial fellow. We first met when he inadvertently lost his camera on a section of the Finger Lakes Trail that I maintained. Later, he recruited me to man the FLTC cabin at the State Fair. And, I was frequently aware of his many volunteer activities with the Finger Lakes Trail Conference and the Onondaga Chapter of the Adirondack Mt. Club. With the former he was at one time on the Board of Managers and also received the Wally Wood Award for his volunteering. He will be missed in those organizations.
