Major John A. Bochino (USAF Retired), 88, of Baldwinsville, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Veterans Medical Center. He was a native of Baldwinsville and a graduate of the Baldwinsville Academy. He served in the 1st Infantry of the US Army during WWII from 1941 to 1945, where he participated in 8 campaigns, including Normandy, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1947 and served his country in the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force in 1964. John was a communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Baldwinsville and was pre-deceased by his wife, Norma V. in 2003. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Veteran’s Medical Center, both in the E.R. and the ICU for the excellent care, compassion and respect shown to John. Survivors: one daughter, Anna M. (Ron) Casciano of Syracuse; three sons, Steven A. (Brenda) Bochino of Baldwinsville, John N. Greene of Centerville, MA and Martin T. (Joanne) Greene of Boiling Springs, SC; 8 grandchildren, Natalie and Nicholas Bochino, Chris and Anthony Casciano, Joseph, Thomas and John Greene and Hannah Gosselin Greene; 1 great grandchild, Brooklyn Greene; and several nieces and nephews. Services: 10:00am Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. Augustine’s Church, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4 – 7:00pm Monday, July 6, 2009 at the church, 7333 O’Brien Road. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Baldwinsville, at a later date. Contributions: St. Augustine’s Church or the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
