It is with my deepest sympathies that I bid farewell to a woman, whom I only new as The Blanket Lady. I worked with Bev over a couple of years through Project Linus and knew her as someone who easily gave of herself and was well-witted with her compliments. She will surely be missed but leaves a legacy of love and stiches! Bless her family during this tough time.

Dear Family of Bev's,
I just found out about you Mom's passing.
I am so sorry to hear about this. I knew her through Project Linus and had the good fortune to spend some fun time visiting with her and her two beloved kitties, when I would deliver Project Linus quilts.
I am honored to have known her. My life is better for it. She was one superior lady !!
I know she is up there in heaven having a good time quilting and making people happy...but most if all... she is with her beloved Neal.

My deepest sympathy to Bev's family and friends. As a founding sister of Phi Lambda Phi Sorority at SUNY Oswego, Bev is indeed my family. We just all met in Oswego for the 50th reunion of Phi Lamb the weekend before her death. I know she was with us in spirit, and always will be! For many years she made the stuffed black lambs each new active sister received. She has supported Phi Lamb through thick and thin. She will be greatly missed.

Bev called Hospice her second home and I was her Michele number two. Her daughter in law Michelle was number one. Bev was open, friendly, and always willing to help whether a patient needed a quilt finished or I needed help"running" the copier. We spent a great deal of time just chatting. The memory that sticks with me most occured shortly after Bev was diagnosed. She called to let me know what was happening and said she was going to start to say things she wanted people to know but had never before said. She then shared she loved me like another daughter. From that day on we grew closer and I was in Bev's circle. She was my friend. For which I will always be grateful. So many times we leave things unsaid or implied and never have the courage to face them and put ourselves out there. I hope to follow Bev's example and make sure the people I care about know it and I face all my obstacles with courage, grace and good humor.

Kristen and Brian,
I am so sorry about your mom. Since she had her knee sugery we talked a little more outside. She loved planning those trips to see you Kristen, except for leaving ther cats. She was so happy with her Linus work. She just beamed talking about it, and all the new friends she made. We enjoyed talking about her work at the fair also. I loved working there too.
Hope all is well with both your families, I know it has been so hard on you, especially you Kristen with your husbands illness and the distance.

As you know I met your Mom and your family in 1983 when we became neighbors on Mariner Trail. My friendship with Bev has remained steady, although we moved away in 1988. She was such a strong and caring person and you "kids" were her world and then the "grands" to follow. She was an inspiration to me in her care of your Father and thur her illness. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
Much love and big hugs, Carolyn Teague

I would like to express my condolences to Brian and Kristen and there families and let you know that your Mom was a "Great Woman" and will truly be missed.
Bev and I met several years ago threw your Dad, Neil.
I work as a florist and your Dad would come in once a week and buy your Mom one red rose. (Truly a romantic man).
From that weekly rose Bev and I formed a "Weekly Friendship".
Threw out several years of friendship Bev and I have shared both good and bad and both ups and downs, but the one thing I will always remember is no matter what life threw at her, she always had a positive attitude, and she was always trying to lighten someone else's life ahead of her own.
I will truly miss our weekly talks and will miss her Dearly.

One of the many highlights of the Project Linus conferences for me was the annual hug-fest Bev and I would share as we said good-bye for another year. We would hug for long periods of time and and go through the months and holidays of the year saying that this one, long hug would sustain us until we met again. We shared those hugs, and lots of laughs, and even a few tears.
Now she is back in the arms of her beloved, Neil. I hope she keeps a watchful eye over those of us who loved her and whose lives she enriched by her presence. She was a gift to all.

Bev and I first met after one of her trips to conference. We met for lunch halfway between our home towns and she showed me her pictures and told me about the fun and new friends that she had made and told me that I absolutely had to go with her to the next one. Well, in 2003, Bev took me to a mini conference in Pennsylvania, where I met quite a few of the east coast coordinators, and Carol and Mary and I was hooked. In 2004, I took my first trip to conference with Bev and she picked me up at a local Tim Horton's restaurant and we then drove to the Albertson hotel, where a brand new coordinator named Peggy, opened her house and heart to us. Bev would make 9 hours of driving to Ft. Wayne go by so fast. She loved to talk about her children and grandchildren. She loved you all so much. She had an infectious laugh that will truly be missed. She would help you with anything you wanted to know about quilting. It was funny because Bev was the quilter and I was the crocheter, but a few years ago, I learned how to sew and make quilts and she learned how to crochet. We always thought that was funny that we each learned each other's craft. I am going to miss my annual road trip to institute with Bev and all of our late nights at Peggy's with our coneys and salt potatoes and wine and all of the times we stopped at a motel on the way home. Those are memories I will keep in my heart forever. We will all miss you at institute this year. She had such a positive attitude with her illness. When she first told me, I was in tears, but she told me not to cry because she was still in good spirits and that she was always going to keep laughing and not let this get her down. Bev, I love you and I hope heaven holds a big stash of fabrics for you. Your quilts were always so amazing and colorful. I will miss you, my dear friend. Institute will definitely not be the same without you and your wonderful laughter.

I have roomed with Bev for the past 3 years at the Project Linus Conference in Bloomington and have been profoundly affected by her optimism and humor. We were the "late night crew" in the hospitality room, always being the last ones to leave because we were such night owls. Though not a quilter myself, I felt a connection to her that continues on. Know that she was loved by many and we grieve with you on her passing. I will miss her dearly.

Bev was one of the first of the Project Linus family who made a huge impact on me and the success of my chapter. When posted on line I wanted to carpool to my first conference, Bev came by way of Indiana to pick me up, a tradition we continued for several years. She and Lucille stayed at my house overnight and we continued to conference the next morning after an evening of eating, laughing, crying, sharing -- I'll miss the salt potatoes and coneys!
