Russ was a great friend and a great roommate back in college. I didn't keep at closely connected to him as I was to Brian or Aaron, and I regret that -- he always seemed so busy with MMORPG events, a busy social calendar that I sometimes had to fight to get on even when we were roommates. I regret that I let us grow distant.
But Russ did care a lot for his friends, and he had loyalty to those he cared for. When I knew him best, I knew him as one who did not judge harshly. What more can really be sought of anyone, in this time and place? Nothing! So let us proclaim loudly that "RUSS TOMSA WAS A GREAT SOUL!".
In a way, I am sure Russ is out there sweeping the mobs and getting some great loot drops in a fantastic place, maybe on a world second star to the right, and straight on till morning...
Cheers all!

We are so sorry to hear of Russell's passing. We will remember Russ and Tom constantly taking the computer apart and putting it back together. They were either at our house or yours and were inseparable. We will remember the many memories we all shared with him and his contagious laugh. We are sorry we can't be there as we have permanently moved to Florida. You are in our hearts and prayers.

Russ graciously and generously hosted our annual ten-strong reunions at his apartment every year until he left UB. I was one of the Hotel Russell overnighters. I remember laying on the couch, falling asleep to the soft glow of his computer monitor and soothing mouse-clicks. Now that I think about it, he was probably trying to be quiet so we could sleep, even though it was his apartment.
But he let us know what's what when it came to food that was off-limits.

Russ was my first real friend I had as a kid. I remember late nights staying over at each other’s houses. I remember playing video games, card games and watching tv. I wish we could have stayed in contact though the years. Russ you truly will be missed by many.

Russ was one of the most selfless and kind people I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend and it will be a long time before I will be able to accept the fact that he was taken from us so soon.

I got to know Russ in college at UB. In my junior year we lived in the same suite in the dorms, and my senior year we lived in an on-campus apartment along with Dave and Brian. These were some of the best years of college for me and definitely some memories that I enjoy looking back on to this day. I was in fact reminiscing about this time just last week. We shared jokes; we gamed together; we saw movies, tv shows, and anime; we made pizza; we bowled... We did a lot of fun things together. Russ was a kind, caring, and funny individual, and a good friend. He was always there with a funny/witty remark, general mischief, and had an infectious laugh.
Although we kept in touch for a few years since our UB days we had lost touch in the past few years, but I always considered him a good friend. I'm deeply saddened at Russ' passing, and I greatly regret the fact that I hadn't stayed in touch with him better the past few years. My heart is with his friends and family who are feeling this great loss.

I was on Russ’ gaming team from around 2007 until around 2011. At times, we were spending on the order of 20+ hours a week together, playing, coordinating, and otherwise keeping the team going. Our team collectively managed to punch way above our weight class, in one case being only the seventh team in the world to accomplish some of the game’s harder challenges. This was in no small part due to “Yoink's” skills but also his dedication to practice and patience.
Russ was among the most passionate and engaged players on our team, never failing to keep spirits up despite how good or bad our team was playing on a given night. Whenever we would finally finish a battle, his outbursts of excitement were always the loudest.
I had the good fortune to meet him in person at a gaming convention in 2013 and he was just as fun and kind in person as he was online. I’m grateful for the fun times we had. I will miss him.

As a community leader, Santh was joy to have around, as he was generally willing to help anyone in-game, whether it was with crafting, running content, or just hanging out.
As a raid leader, he frustrated the heck outta me sometimes, but he was a genuine joy to raid with, and we could really count on him.
As a friend, he was kind, thoughtful, generally put so many other people first, and genuinely cared for the other people around him. He had an infectious laugh, and was always fun to hang out with. His Minecraft BEEEEEEEEEEES obsession will be something we will forever joke about.
He'll be missed by not just me, but also the entirety of Dimensional Death. Our community is lesser for losing him. He'll always hold a special place in our community, as a member. But most of all, he was a good friend.
I've attached the last group photo our raid group took. Santh's character is on the far left(with the scythe).
He was a dork, and stubborn as hell. But he was my friend.
Go find your jerk of a bunny, ya nerd. <3

Doing a bit of a bulk post of messages that I gathered from people prior to this.
Tunod: I've been a part of this community for 8 years now, and Santh was pretty much always there, always willing to jump in and run stuff. He made it a friendlier circle, a friendlier place to be, just by being there himself. I can only imagine the loss his family is feeling, and I wish them all the best. Know that he was loved wherever he went.
0²: Santh was someone I rarely chatted with, but the time I did get to hang with them it was ALWAYS a good fun time.
Exelia: I wish I'd interacted with him more to have something to say
Kaiyalai: While I didn’t interact with him much, I recall that he always made the community a livelier, welcoming place.
Senji: Santh was always friendly, was always good chillin' with him
Kaleara: I enjoyed playing Minecraft and talking about minecraft with him, I didn't realize until looking back through chat history, that he and i talked quite often, indirectly.
Helloblue: When we talked, he made me laugh. Late night silly stuff. I'll miss him.
Shane "The Cat" Gough: Santh and I shared a hill on Minecraft once. It was a lot of fun having him as a neighbor as we shared and cooperated for a good while during that time. I will miss playing with him.
Ketra: I am new to dd but I will say the times me and blue where on at like 3am just talking and playing games with Santh was fun. I wish I would have been able to play minecraft with him.
Teemo: He was always fun to be around, and the fact he kept wearing something I made for him one secret santa always made me happy seeing. Always enjoyed talking.
Aoi: gonna miss Santh so much. He was always fun, funny and down right a great person! I loved spending the time we did spend in game together.
Naosha: I know I'm like barely existent in the FC or community, but It was always great when Santh was around. Lots of laughs, and I'm gonna miss that something terrible. I wish his family, and all of you who knew him more, peace and strength in this time of loss
Kirk: It's been a whole minute since I chatted with him, but Santh was a cool guy, it's really sad to see he's gone :/
TheSkyIsMelting: Im gonna miss arguing with him over the most pointless things to the point people say we must not like each other very much, and then almost in unison going ‘ no this is true friendship’. there will always be a Bee or Bunny named in his honor in any game from now on.
