Obituary of Frederick Joseph Thomas

Frederick J. Thomas, 93, of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2021 with his family by his side. A lifelong Baldwinsville resident, Fred was born July 15, 1928 to the late Grover and Anna Thomas. He graduated from Baldwinsville Academy in 1946. On October 11, 1952 he married the love of his life, Janice VanNostrand. They shared 69 years of marriage. Fred worked 35 years at Niagara Mohawk, retiring in 1987 as one of the System Coordinators for Special Equipment. He served on the Town of VanBuren Planning Board for 48 years and several years on the Baldwinsville Village Planning Board. In his retirement years, he loved spending time at his camp on Raquette Lake with his family and playing hockey into his 80's. Fred is survived by his wife, Janice, his daughter Martha Parker (David), his son Phil Thomas (Cindy), his grandson Zakariah Ispahani (Danielle Grosso) and a great-grandson Luca Ispahani, along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 3 from 4-7 pm at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on December 4 at St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Raquette Lake Fire Dept, P.O. Box 160, Raquette Lake, NY 13436 in memory of Fred Thomas. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on Unit 3 of Syracuse Home for the outstanding care that Dad received.
