Elizabeth Halligan, 88, of Syracuse passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday May 6, 2019. Elizabeth was born and raised in Baldwinsville. She married James Halligan on August 19, 1950. They raised their children while stationed at various military bases in Europe, Asia, and the United States before settling near their hometown in Syracuse, NY. Elizabeth was a devoted communicant of Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Warners, NY, a founding member of BVM's Altar Rosary Society, and a member of the third order of the Society of St Pius X. She had a long-standing relationship with God and was blessed with her faith. Elizabeth was always happiest surrounded by the energy and noise of her large family. She enjoyed reminiscing and cherished the time she spent with each member. She will be greatly missed by many. She was predeceased by her mother Mary (McCarthy) and father Daniel Luke, her husband James C. Halligan, her son James P. Halligan, and her sister Mary Luke. She is survived by her daughter Francelia (Steve) Montagne, sons Frank (Pam) Halligan, Alfred (Joan) Halligan, Daniel (Kim) Halligan, William (DeBorah) Halligan, and Charles (Siena) Halligan, her daughter-in-law Stasia Halligan, her brothers Daniel (Anna), Jack (Rosie), and Richard (Kathy), 34 beloved grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Her kind heart and selfless nature is her lasting legacy. Elizabeth's family is thankful for the professionalism and compassion shown by the nursing and aide staff at Hospice of CNY. The family would also like to thank everyone for your prayers, love and support for our mother and us during this solemn time. You have all been a great source of comfort and strength.
