Joan M. Ramin (89), of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away surrounded by her family on May 2, 2019. She was born February 26, 1930 in Danville, PA to Gregory and Eloise "Tweet" Beck, but grew up primarily in Williamsport, PA. She was the oldest of 6 children (Greg, Hobie, Suzie, Noreen and Jon-Michael). She had several occupations throughout her life including working at the Little League World Series where she met and married Edward Ramin on August 31, 1956 in York, PA. Joan and Ed eventually settled in Baldwinsville having a total of 5 boys, Peter (Betty), Greg, David (JoAnn), John (Diane) & Dan (Lori). They also have 6 grandchildren: Jon, Hobie, Ben, Meredith, Jack & Gregory. Joan was very active in the Baldwinsville community and believed in service. She was active in Garden Club and Altar Rosary through St. Mary's Church. Joan also co-founded the Baldwinsville Chapter of Meals-on-Wheels with her close friend Marilyn Swete as well as being the Director of the St. Mary's Church Human Development program where she retired in 2010. Through these many efforts and activities, Joan received many awards for her service including being named Baldwinsville's Woman of the Year, The Brady "God Love Ya" Award through the Brady Faith Center and the Immaculata Award through the Syracuse Diocese. Joan is survived by her husband Ed of 62 years, their 5 sons and respective families, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. There will be a memorial service at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church on Saturday May 11, 2019 at 12:00pm. A reception will immediately follow in the Church's Gathering Space. Memorial donations can be made to the Human Development program of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church where Joan shared so much of her life and Syracuse Home Association. We would like to thank all of the staff at Syracuse Home where Joan received such good care and lots of love and joy. Joan shared her life guided by her love of people, love of service, love of family and most of all, a love of God. She has been an inspiration. She is loved and will be missed.
