Obituary of Lois J. Stearns

Lois J. (Valade) Stearns, 71, of Baldwinsville passed peacefully April 24 at Syracuse Home at McHarrie in Baldwinsville. She was born in South Windsor, Connecticut, and was a 1965 graduate of East Catholic High School. Lois was a certified lifeguard, and in her senior year of high school, was the recipient of the 1965 American National Red Cross Aquatic Schools scholarship, and went on to attend nursing school. In 1969, Lois and Gary W. Stearns wed in South Windsor, CT. Lois was employed by Syracuse Home Association and started as a nursing assistant in 1989. She then became a medical transcriptionist in 1997 and retired from Syracuse Home in 2016. Lois was a Den Leader of Boy Scout Pack 107 in 1988 and 1989. She was an avid Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan, as well as Syracuse University football and basketball. Her hobbies included reading books and doing crossword puzzles. Lois is predeceased by her parents, and husband Gary W. Stearns. Survivors: William and John; daughters-in-law Christina (Becallo) Stearns and Sarah (Dorr) Stearns; grandchildren Alec Stearns, Dayna Stearns, Damien Sausville, Raelyn Stearns, Juliana Stearns, and Joan Samson; brother Raymond (Sue) Valade, and sisters Denise Dupree, Elaine Copeland, and Anne Valade; as well as many nieces and nephews. Services: Calling hours will be open to the public, and held on Sunday, April 28th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm at Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville.
