We did not know Eleanor that well. Of the few times we were with her it was obvious she was always interested in everyone else, and a loving mother to all her family. We learned of her lifelong religious faith, and believe she will find “life everlasting”. She’ll be missed by her family all who knew her, but her suffering is over and she is in a better place. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. May they accept our sincere condolences.

So many memories of Mom that I can share, however the recent memories of her life are the ones that are freshest in my mind. Unfortunately, they are also the ones that are part of maybe the least favorite part of her life, the time when she struggled the most with pain. Since we had 3-4 home health aides working the course of a day, She would always ask me who's coming in this afternoon?, who's coming in the morning". she often liked all her aides, but she also had her favorites. She often referred to Margaret as her "guardian angel" as we couldn't have asked for a more helping, considerate caregiver. Pat was another favorite, Pat was our "go to" home health aide, when we needed help Pat was always there for us. We've had many health aides over the years and most were pretty great, but none were as giving and caring as Wendy was to Momma J. Wendy had a special place in Momma J's heart and she often referred to her, as her own daughter. They had a special bond and mom has truly been blessed to have had Wendy by her side for all these years. Although Moms memory began to fail her at times, she could remember a word, a statement, or a thought you said two or three weeks ago, when you had long forgotten about it and thought it was inconsequential...she remembered.
Another character trait about mom that I noticed working with her every day was she always took the time to ask her aides how things were going, "Hows your son doing, hows your daughter doing", she would ask. She often surprised people by her genuine concern for others, even when she was suffering so much, herself. She would often take the time to smile and greet them as they came in, or give them best wishes as they left for the day. She was a woman of grace and character even in times of adversity.
I know she would want me to thank all the home health aides that helped us over the years, And to offer our gratitude for all the caring and compassion you showed my mother, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Eleanor Janowski Eulogy – March 9 2019
Read By: FR Cliff of St Mary’s Church
Eleanor,… Miss Ellie,… Momma J,… Gammy,… and of course Mom. These are the names Eleanor was familiar with from those who cared for her and supported her needs daily. By whatever name she heard, she knew it was a familiar and warm greeting by a caring family member or friend. She often would say that she was extremely lucky to be surrounded by such love and support.
Many of those close to her who saw her daily, watched a Godly woman often struggling to find a moment,.. an hour...or a day without pain and discomfort. There were days when little relief was granted from her pain by prescription meds, or massage to help her agonizing and unrelenting chronic leg and back pain.
Many days, were filled with hours of sleep, much more sleepiness than awakeness, maybe her bodies way of escaping her chronic suffering. Whatever the case, it was in those times where her grace and tolerance were tested the most.
Her son Don recalls to me, in all the years of her chronic disability, and associated pain and suffering, that he never heard, her ever once question God, as to “why me God”, why me?
Those closest to her witnessed a woman of unbending faith, day in day out, she faced her own “lions den”. She dealt with it with unwavering grace and character in such away that all who were familiar with her, time and time again as she faced her demons, were taken back by her inner strength, the kind of strength that only comes from the Holy Spirit and faith in Jesus Christ.
Im told, Eleanor has walked all her years with Christ as her guide. Although the challenges of her life were many over those years she continued to walk the narrow road of faith regardless of the hurdles. She has been without doubt a shining example of what it means to be a good Christian. An unwavering belief in Jesus Christ, An unrelenting love for the Holy Mother, has inspired those around her to often be better than they are, and to be more than they can be.
Because of her strength of character and her bold faith in something greater than us individually, she has blessed us. She has helped us, encouraged us without intention, to be kind to one another, to be gentle, to care for others, and to be generous of heart. She did all this without lifting a leg, an arm or a finger.
Based on what we’ve witnessed, in the life of Eleanor,…Miss Ellie…Momma J, …Gammy,…Mom. We can believe with all our heart, that when she was ready to leave us a few days ago, someone as faithful and devoted as her, surely went on angels wings to be in Gods presence. With no more pain and no more suffering, she is in total peace in the light of God.
For now,.. we must let her go with the hope and promise of our Christian doctrine that we will see her again some day.
Until that day, take comfort in the words of scripture, that Mom most surely heard the night she left us and entered the kingdom of God, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”
