OK Corky, this is something I still have to do. Sitting here listening to Oldies, some Roy Orbison stuff we used to play at Canteen, and like the song says-"I'm Hurtin". I needed everything I could muster the other night to get up and walk to your side man. Christ it was hard to speak. Once I started, it just flowed man, like you were sitting right there. Hardest thing to do-speaking about you in past tense, but then it just came out so easy, just like we always used to do. I had to thank Kathy (and the kids) for all they had done. You were super lucky to find a soulmate who loved you so dearly. I doubt that most of them really believe the stuff we used to do, but you know its all true, and so much more. I could have talked up there for 3 days and not touched on all of it. That's what I;m doing now Bro- this is just me and you now, and I cant leave it without saying this: we grew older and saw each other less frequently as we spent more time with kids and grandkids, but we were never more than a phone call away. I wish I had come to some of the family gigs, but like I told you, after coming home from Nam I have a hard time with crowds, and still do. I still cant sit in a pub or diner with my back to the door-totally bananas about that, and you never questioned or ridiculed that . Thanks Bro. Just sitting here remembering so much more, like building the gas engine airplanes and flying them. Remember when Johnny was holding one in Mechanic St while we got it started, and let go too soon? It flew straight at your Dad and hit him in the belly, knocked him down. We laughed like lunatics and he got mad. Built about a thousand model cars, remember our snow-shoveling business? we were only 8 or 9 yrs old. And that HUGE paper route we had? I still can see those pies and cookies those old ladies used to give us as tips. MMMM
And how about listening to the fire horn blow out a code for location of a fire? We knew them all, jumped on our bikes and most always beat the fire engines there. There was so much fun and laughter, not always just goofing and hijinks. Willy Kline always called us "Pete and Repeat". He was a hoot! I remember the pond, selling berries to Mayor Palmer for pies, we must have explored every last nook of those buildings and bunkers out on the Project. No Radisson, just lovers lanes, and boy what fun chasing parkers, huh? We could go on and on, but I'll save it for another day. I know we set the sails, but God makes the wind- just gotta get these things out or Ill burst.I spoke to the folks at your celebration about finding something that says it all about you, and here is one just to you my Brother. "To laugh often and well; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the respect of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived That is to have succeeded. You did it all man, you did it all. We can all only hope to rise up to your level. I won't say goodbye cuz I cant- its just see ya later for now. Love ya man.

Dad I am not good with words, but there are to many memories to list obviously. My biggest memory is you brought up the best six boys and love you for all you have done. I know when your young you say “ No dad that’s not how it goes”, but as everyone knows you realize when your older you were right. I did not just admit that lol. Dad you were the best we could ever ask for. LOVE YOU THEN, NOW, AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!

Dear Corky,
Cousins by family, friends by choice! I considered Corky to be my best friend. We were closer than even my brothers. We shared alot of secrets and hung at the campfire with nobody else around. We do believe that Corky and Kathy had the most number of different sites at the campgrounds. You could not count them on one hand, too many. Their family was always welcome at our site, and our family to theirs. Kids, grandchildren, even Kathy and Diane in a drunken stupor at 10PM on our deck, laughing and carrying on. Always welcome, no matter what time. They always made Ryan feel welcome when he was hanging with Loren and Morgan. It didn't matter what time he came back to camp; we knew he was not getting into trouble. Ask the next morning what they were doing and the same saying always was heard, "what is said or done at the Taylor fire, always stays at the Taylor fire."
All the friends and family that came to camp and "community" parties somehow turned into half the campgrounds. Yeah, we put an end to that.
Labor Day talent shows and raffles at the rec hall, were always fun for all, especially if you won something. Even Olyvia winning a basket of cheer that Kathy put her name on. Didn't sit well with other campers, oh well...
Corky and Kathy had more than their share of problems with their boat. Either out of gas down by Cooper's Marina, or out of oil just off the campgrounds a ways, or getting stuck in a downpour. They always saw the humor in it all, later on. "MORON" was a term of affection between the two of them, and boy did we hear that alot, most times with a couple adjectives stuck in there too! FUNNY, FUNNY!
Corky always made everyone laugh, most times at their own expense.
All in all, good times, good friends, good beer, good wine, good dancing, sometimes on the beach. These are some amongst many of the things we will remember about Corky, "our friend and our neighbor in our hearts"
God Speed!!!

My cousin was Larry C Taylor. We all knew and loved him as Corky. I just wanted to take a few moments to say how much I loved and will miss my beloved cousin, who went home to be with the Lord Jesus last week.
Corky was the son of my mothers older sister Barbara. He was older than me growing up and was the best friend of my eldest brother Darryl, even before I was born in 1965.
I feel that its very important today that I share a few memories with everyone of my cousin Corky.
Back in the 1970s life was pretty difficult for my family. Because my dad worked in construction, he was laid off frequently in the mid to late 1970s and life was not going so well for us.
Around this time, in the later 1970s my cousin Corky and his family moved in near us only a block away. Corky and his wife and kids became our close neighbors and it was during this time that I got to know my cousin Corky much more than I had known him.
I think it was during the winter of 1978 when it was brutally cold that the furnace in our home broke. Temperatures went to way below zero and there was absolutely NO HEAT in our home. It would take a week or so to repair it and my family was at wits end.
No worries. My cousin Corky came to the rescue. He told me, my sister and my mother to come stay with his family nearby while our heat was off. He opened his home to us and took us in when we needed it most. I will NEVER forget that kindness as Corky, Kathy and family saved our behinds. Corky was a kind man and I never forgot this kindness.
I remember staying at Corkys home for a week until our heat was repaired. It was during this week that I first played TV Tennis and my love of videogames was born at Corkys home. Yes Corky was a kind and caring man that everyone should try to be like in life.
Another thing I must mention about Corky is that the only time in my life I ever went to camp was when he owned his camp on Jacks Reef and invited my family to go there in the summer. I had so many happy days fishing and playing with my cousins there in the carefree summers of a different time. Thank you for all of this Corky. Thank you for being a wonderful and caring family man who I hope to be like in my life.
Corky also loved his New York Giants football team. He was loyal to them always and like him, I also love the Giants.
Thank you Corky for being a fantastic cousin and a wonderful man who I always looked up to and admired. May God bless you and I look forward to seeing you again when God calls me home to heaven also.
Much love,
Kyle J. Merriam

As a child, Corky and Kathy allowed me to be a part of their family. Things at my home were not always the best at times and they, with an already full house, would let me stay for weeks at a time! They we're some of the best times of my young life! Corky was a man's man and I respected him very much! He worked hard and taught his boys everything they needed to be good and decent adults! My deepest condolences to the entire Taylor clan.

Our most sincere condolences to the entire Taylor family upon the passing of the patriarch of the Clan. Corky has always been a devout family man, and it has been a stroke of good fortune to both him and his family to have had each other to love, nurture and rely on for all their lives. All families should be so lucky.
There is not enough time in all creation to account for all the memories of wonderful times spent together-my very first recollections as a toddler all include Corky. Our whole world is now dimmer and colder without him, as we had all shined in his light.
Kathy, a special place is reserved for you now, and I am so happy you found this guy. Thank you for the whole 40 years of love and devotion to each other, and for taking such wonderful care of my "Brother from another Mother". Love you both.
