Obituary of Leslie Conrad Westerman

Leslie Conrad Westerman died peacefully at his home in Baldwinsville, NY on December 28, 2018 following a long illness. He battled his illness admirably, never complaining or losing hope, and truly grateful for the many visits and phone calls from family and friends. He was born on July 4, 1956, in Rock Island, Illinois, the oldest son of William and Rosemary Westerman, and he grew up in Wantagh, NY. Les graduated from St. Frances de Chantal Elementary School in 1970; Chaminade High School in 1974, where he was a member of the chorus, played intramural sports, and was on the Honor Roll; Syracuse University in 1978, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, played rugby, and earned a BS in Accounting; and Syracuse Law School in 1981. Les was a CPA who passed the New York State Bar and worked as a tax attorney for a number of years at Main Hurdman in New York City before returning to Syracuse to start a law firm with colleagues and friends. He later became an independent practitioner in Fayetteville and Baldwinsville where he and his wife, Donna, raised their two sons, Bill and David. He was an enthusiastic softball player and supportive father to his sons, who both attended Christian Brothers Academy and played soccer. Les loved his family and his friends, the Syracuse Orangemen, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, camping, and helping the less fortunate. He was a total history buff and an avid reader. All who knew him will miss him, his huge heart, and his endless kindness. Les is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna (Germano), his sons Bill (Katherine), David (Mary), granddaughter Gabriella, mother Rosemary Westerman, his four siblings, John Westerman (Mickee), Julie Bostwick (Pete), Phil Westerman (Maura) and Ann Trait (Patrick), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. His father William Westerman and son Michael predeceased him. The entire family is extremely grateful to Les' wife Donna for the incredible care she provided while his physical health deteriorated. We are also grateful for the excellent care he received at Upstate Oncology and Hospice of CNY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity in Les' memory. Calling hours will be on January 26 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, NY from l1 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a memorial tribute hosted by clergy, family, and friends. A summer burial is planned in Breckenridge, Colorado.
