Obituary of Carl Allen Dimon

Dr. Carl Allen Dimon of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed into eternal rest Sunday, April 29th, 2018 from respiratory failure. Born in Fulton, New York on May 28th, 1936 to John Carl Dimon and Vivian Thompson Dimon, Dr. Dimon attended Phoenix Central School in Phoenix, New York, where he excelled in scholastics and sport, graduating as Valedictorian of his senior class. He enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, obtaining a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1958 and then enrolled at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, being awarded PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1962. He married his beloved wife Susan Garrett Dimon on July 26, 1958 before moving to Chicago for his doctoral studies. He was recruited by Mobil Oil Corporation in 1962 and relocated to Dallas where he spent his entire career as a petroleum engineer and an oil well stimulation and reservoir specialist, retiring from Mobil in 1994 and then continued his work as a highly respected consultant to the oil industry. Dr. Dimon was an active adult leader in The Boy Scouts of America, forming an Explorer Troop in Lancaster, Texas, later being an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troops 503 and 524. Many young men were greatly influenced by his work in Scouting, where he specialized in training the scouts in first aid, lifesaving, swimming proficiency and outdoorsmanship. Dr. Dimon enjoyed playing basketball and soccer and was fond of the sports of his hometown Syracuse Orangemen, his Cleveland Browns and his alma mater, Northwestern. He was an avid reader and enjoyed mathematical and logic games, and was the keeper of the greater family history, completing an exacting study of the family's genealogy going back to the 1700s. Aside from his serious approach to life and his works, he was apt to perform small acts of random silliness and spontaneous gesticulations that endeared him to family and friends alike. Dr. Dimon was very involved in the Presbyterian Church USA and was a respected congregant and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Texas up until the time of his passing. He had a calm and firm faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his promises of the resurrection and eternal life in Heaven. Dr. Dimon was preceded in death by his Mother, Vivian Ruth Thompson Dimon, and Father, John Carl Dimon, and his only Sister, Mary Jane Dimon Ford. He is survived by his beloved Wife of 59 years, Susan Elizabeth Garrett Dimon of Grand Prairie, Texas; Daughter Elise Carolyn Dimon Wise and Husband Dr. John Macgregor Wise of Phoenix, Arizona; Son, Stewart Bentley Dimon and Wife Jamie Holmes Dimon of Fort Worth, Texas; and Grandchildren Madison Paige Dimon of Fort Worth, Texas; Catherine Eleanor Wise of Phoenix, Arizona; and Brennen Macgregor Wise of Phoenix, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster, Texas, 2:00 pm. on June 16th, 2018. Memorial Celebrants will be his life-long best friend, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) Father Jerome Ward, and Pastor James Butt of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. The Family will inter his remains at Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, New York subsequent.
