Born in Fulton, New York on May 28th, 1936 to John Carl Dimon and Vivian Thompson Dimon, Dr. Dimon attended Phoenix Central School in Phoenix, New York, where he excelled in scholastics and sport, graduating as Valedictorian of his senior class. He enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, obtaining a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1958 and then enrolled at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, being awarded PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1962. He married his beloved wife Susan Garrett Dimon on July 26, 1958 before moving to Chicago for his doctoral studies.
