Obituary of George M. Haws

George Haws, 78, passed away Tuesday, April 24, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse to William and Esther Raney Haws. He was a graduate of SU. George was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing. His real legacy would be his career as a guidance counselor. George touched and helped thousands of students find direction in their lives. He always seemed passionate about his work as a counselor. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus and volunteered at the Syracuse Home and Francis House. George was a loving and devoted husband to his wife, Ruth Ann. They spent their winters in Zephyrhills, FL and their summers in Chaumont Bay. George loved spending time with his family with many memories made in Chaumont. George was predeceased by his parents, wife, Ruth Ann, and brother, William Haws. George is survived by daughter, Kelley (Keith) Williamson of Baldwinsville; sons, Mike (Amy) Haws of S. Portland, ME, and William (Nichole) Haws of Richmond Hill, GA; grandchildren, Sean (Melissa), Nicholas (Margaret), Jon, Matt, Corey, Josh, Brooke, Kianna, and Laikyn; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Delylah, Ethan, and Teddy; many nieces and nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Friday, April 27 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A Mass of Christian Burial is 12 pm Saturday, April 28 at St. Augustine's Church, 7333 O'Brien Rd, Baldwinsville. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Augustine's Church or to All Saints Catholic Church, 27396 Madison St, Chaumont, NY 13622.
