Obituary of Lois Mildred Sollish

Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lois Dunsby Sollish, 89, passed from this life to rejoin her beloved husband on March 14, 2018. She was born in Brooklyn on January 31, 1929 and raised in New Jersey. She met her husband, Robert G. Sollish at Syracuse University and was married on June 18, 1949. The couple moved into a home in Baldwinsville in 1952 where they raised three children.

Lois was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 65 years and spent a number of years on the Steering and Scholarship committees of the Presbyterian Weekday Nursery School. She was also a long time volunteer at Community Hospital as a "book lady" and later in the gift shop.

She was a superb seamstress and knitter. After her children were grown, she owned and operated "The Yarn Cottage" in Baldwinsville for twenty-one years. She also enjoyed gardening and received many compliments on the plantings around her house.

Lois was predeceased by her sister, Jean Helen Dunsby, her parents, Helen and Walter Dunsby, Sr. and her husband of 67 years, Robert G. Sollish.

She is survived by her children George E. (Margaret) Sollish, Jean D. Marsters and Robert W. (Pam McLaughlin) Sollish; three grandchildren, Frank Marsters, Matthew (Bonnie) Marsters and Alexandria Marsters; her brother Walter (Janet) Dunsby, Jr.; three nephews and six great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will take place at the First Presbyterian church of Baldwinsville on April 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM.

My grandma used to sit and knit From morning 'till the night, With her needles clicking, clicking, her eyes were shining bright.

She loved to knit and purl and knit and gathered so much pleasure, When she was done, her pieces fine were ours to always treasure. By Linda Harris

Thank you Grammy (Mom) for the sweaters, the memories and the love that was knit through it all.
