Obituary of Nicholas John LaVerne

Nicholas John LaVerne, age 50, of N. Syracuse, NY passed away unexpectedly at home on March 7th. Nick was born in Syracuse on January 15, 1968, and was a graduate of Bishop Grimes HS. He received his bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism from SUNY Oswego and worked at News 10 Now in Syracuse and KTVB in Boise, ID before transitioning to his most recent position as a Media Manager at Cornell University's Language Learning Center. Nick was an incredibly talented guitarist and songwriter. He had many successful bands throughout his life including The Screaming Meemies, Guardrail, Sinker, and most recently Stone Cold Miracle. He was a passionate Yankees fan, lover of NPR, an opinionated and witty conversationalist, a superb cook, and a devoted and loving husband, son, friend and father. He will be deeply and profoundly missed. He is survived by his wife Kate LaVerne and young son Benjamin LaVerne of Dryden, parents Greg and Bonnie Miller of Cicero, sisters Michelle (Steve) Shallcross of Clay, Tammy Rueppel of N. Syracuse, step-sisters Stacey (Chris) Seamans, Jody (Paul) Williams and Kelly (Brian) O'Hara, many nieces and nephews and loving in-laws. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 12th from 4-6:30pm with a service directly following at Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville.
