Obituary of Salvatore Caruso

Salvatore R. Caruso, 92, passed away Friday at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cadosia, NY to Anthony and Guilia Passamato Caruso and graduated from Temple University. Salvatore was a US Army WW II Veteran and battled the front lines in the Philippines. He was a recipient of a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He recently went on the 10th Annual Honor Flight which allows Veterans to visit the Monuments in Washington, D.C.. Salvatore was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus of Council 5082 and was a past Grand Knight. He was also a member of the VFW 173. Salvatore is predeceased by his parents, children, Samuel R. Caruso and Virginia Yager, and all of his siblings. Salvatore is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Homa Caruso; children, Jean Frick, Bonnie (David) Felber, Julia Caruso, Paul (Marion) Caruso, John (Diane) Caruso, David (Kim) Caruso, Dennis Caruso, and Jean Caruso; several grandchildren, including Lorraine Stolar and Jason Yager; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 am Friday, December 15 at St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse St, Baldwinsville. Burial following at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Thursday, December 14, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Honor Flight, PO Box 591, Syracuse, NY 13209.
