Obituary of Hugh J. Sweeney

Hugh J. Sweeney, 89, of Baldwinsville passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Scranton, PA and lived in the Baldwinsville area since 1958. Hugh retired from General Electric as a draftsman and designer after 41 years of service. He was an usher and communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Baldwinsville. Hugh was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council and served as financial secretary for many years and was past Grand Knight. He was a member and past president of the Fulton Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Hugh was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Beverly H. Sweeney in April of this year, a daughter, Patricia Phillips and a sister Alice Sweeney.

Surviving are his daughters, Kathleen (Mike) Barbera and Nancy (Patrick) Starke; his sons, Hugh J. "Butch" (Roberta), Timothy M. (Jill) and James P. Sweeney; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am Monday, December 11th at St. Augustine's Church, 7333 O'Brien Road, Baldwinsville. Calling hours will be from 4:00pm – 7:00pm Monday , December 11th at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.

Burial will take place Wednesday, December 13th in St. Catherine's Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
