Obituary of Robert F. Slater

Robert F. Slater, 79, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away peacefully on October 29, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born June 27, 1938, in Herkimer, NY to Alexander and Bernice Dodge Slater. He graduated from West Canada Valley High School and served in the US Army. Bob attended St. Lawrence University, where he played varsity baseball and basketball and graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a degree in business. He was a retired school business administrator and was employed by the Ilion, Fayetteville-Manlius, and Baldwinsville Central School Districts.

Bob was an avid reader of military history. He enjoyed Broadway shows, frequenting his favorite restaurants, and walking at Beaver Lake Nature Center. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, charismatic personality, and the immeasurable pride and love he felt for his wife, children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara and his four children; Kerry and his wife Laura, Kelly and her husband James Webber, Jeffrey and his partner Jennifer Otis, Amy and her husband Frank DiMaria: two stepchildren; Richard Weslowski and his wife Jen, and Mark Weslowski. He leaves several special grandchildren; Emily, Alexander, Lucas, Patrick, Colin, Bennett, Nicholas, Hope, Hanna, Ricky, and Joshua. Bob is also survived by his sister, Sue Ellen Gaines and her children. He will be greatly missed by his favorite cat, Clarie.

In Bob's final days he was cared for by several compassionate and attentive nurses from St. Joseph's Hospital. His family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of the caring individuals who made those days easier for not only Bob, but his family, as well.

Those wishing to honor Bob's memory and remarkable life can attend calling hours from 4-7 pm Friday, November 3 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville, NY. A funeral service will also be held at 10 AM, on Saturday, November 4th at the funeral home.
