George J. Breigle, 92, formerly of West Sand Lake passed away peacefully Sunday October 8, 2017 in Syracuse. He was born on August 17, 1925, in Cohoes, NY the son of the late Joseph Breigle and Beatrice E. Perrault Breigle. He was raised in West Sand Lake and graduated in 1942 from Averill Park High School. During WWII George proudly served 3 years in the Naval Air Force. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Dorothy Vashrow Breigle. George worked for NY Tel Co for 38 years, retiring as a manager in 1985. He was a very active member of the West Sand Lake community, he was a former Justice of the Peace, served on the Town Board and was a life member of the WSL Fire Company. A member of the American Legion Post 1021 and a charter member of VFW 3025. He was a long time member of the Burden Lake Country Club and a Communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. He enjoyed performing weddings, cruising, golfing, reading a good mystery, and deer hunting, but most of all being with his family. Survived by his son, Thomas (Lisa) Breigle of Baldwinsville; daughter, Susan (Art) Sutton of Hopewell Junction; brother, Joseph Breigle; sister, Judy Harloff; grandchildren: Craig (Sarah) Breigle, Scott (Mandi) Breigle, Karla (Scott) Anderson, AJ (fiancee Janine Gallois) Sutton III; great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Riley, and George J. Breigle and Penelope Anderson. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday October 13, 2017 at 10:30 am at St Henry's Church,39 Old Route 66, Averill Park, NY 12018. Burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake. Donations in memory of George J. Breigle may be made to St. Henry's Church and McHarrie Life Foundation.
