Ingrid Margareta Lindeqvist,90, beloved by family and friends, died peacefully on September 2, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born on September 30, 1926, in Orebro, Sweden, the daughter of Margareta and Henry Carlson. Educated in Sweden, she married her husband, Per Torsten Lindeqvist, in December 1949, and in March 1950 they crossed the stormy Atlantic to begin life as a married couple in America. In 1954 they moved from New Jersey to Elmira, New York, to raise their family. Ingrid worked for many years at Elmira College as the interlibrary loan librarian, where she made many friends and continued to actively volunteer for numerous organizations. With her family, she enjoyed the natural world through hiking, camping, and skiing. At the age of 80, Ingrid moved to Baldwinsville to be closer to family, and she was proud of her independent life with her cat companions in her house filled with love and laughter. Ingrid loved adventures, traveling with Per and with friends, flowers, reading, knitting, music (especially opera), chocolate, and tea, and she never let pass an opportunity to befriend or help someone. She and Per spent their forty-three years of married life deeply in love with and devoted to each other. To her delight, she recently met her great-granddaughter. Ingrid was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Ulla-Britt Sunstrom. She is survived by her daughter, Marieanne Clark (Philip); her son, Lars Lindeqvist (Lisa); her grandchildren, Laura Malik (Mehul), Thomas Lindeqvist, and Linnéa Clark; her great-granddaughter, Lila Malik; and relatives still living in Sweden. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 2840 Cold Springs Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. The family will welcome visitors at 12:00, with a memorial service at 1:30. A light luncheon will follow.
