Obituary of Vanessa Ann McCarthy

Vanessa McCarthy, 28, passed away July 31, 2017. She was an LPN at Upstate University Hospital where her patients appreciated her compassion and kindness. She liked all shades of pink and loved dogs. She visited Helping Hounds Dog Rescue frequently. But, most of all, she loved her son, Caleb, and all of his accomplishments, especially in karate. She had a very genuine, kind heart and everyone loved her for it. Vanessa is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, David and Mary Lou Pier. Vanessa is survived by her parents, Leon and Doreen Pier McCarthy; son, Caleb McCarthy; sisters, Jessica and Sarah McCarthy; paternal grandparents, Leo and Lorraine McCarthy; aunts and uncles, David & Terrie Maholick, Anthony & Leslie Arcuri and David & Tracy Pier; and cousins, David (Jessica), Angela (Len), Stephanie (Erik), Christopher and Justin, and their children. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, August 4 at St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse St, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7 pm Thursday, August 3 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, 6606 Kinne Rd, Dewitt, NY 13214. To all of the parents in the world, please always remember to give your children a hug and tell them how much you love them.
