Frederick Pickard, Sr., 92, passed away at home on March 19. He was born in West Phoenix to Howard and Daisy Allnutt Pickard. He was a US Navy WW II Veteran and served on the U.S.S. Dickerson, which was sunk by a Japanese Kamikaza attack off Okinawa. After his military service, he worked for William C. Pahl Construction. Fred was a Charter member of the Baldwinsville Booster and Baldwinsville Wrestling Clubs. He was a Cub Scout Pack 103 Webelos Leader and a 65 year member with the Local Laborers Union 633. Fred is predeceased by his parents, wife, Alice McCarthy Pickard, siblings Howard Pickard, Jr., Robert Pickard Sr., Elizabeth Dean, Edna Eggleston, and Helen Carey. He is survived by his children Sheila Hayes of Mattydale, Frederick (Robin) Pickard, Jr. of Maplehill, NC, Ann (Ron) Hayes of Gainesboro, TN, Elizabeth "Betsy" Pickard of Baldwinsville; Thomas (Lisa) Pickard of Cambridge, IA, John (Lisa) Pickard of Baldwinsville and, James (Lori) Pickard of Goshen, IN; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; and sister, Jean (Vern) Bishop of Sterling, NY. Calling hours are 4-7 PM Thursday, March 23 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A service will follow at 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital, 700 Children's Dr., Columbus, OH 43205 or to the Syracuse VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave, Syracuse, NY 13210.
