My sincere condolences to the Coleman family! So sad to learn of Joe's passing and missing the opportunity to thank you for sharing your wonderful husband and father with those of us at Cortland Jr. Sr. High School. Joe was one of the best principals I had the privilege to work beside. He was compassionate to all of us from the first day we met until the sad day he announced he was taking a job at LaFayette Central School District, we all wanted to leave Cortland and travel north with him!! Joe always looked out for the students and staff, especially, those that struggled. He once said to us, "All kids are Great Kids" and his car plate was grand to follow as we commuted on Route 81 side by side many mornings (GR8KIDS) Joe was one of a kind and will eternally be in my heart and memory forever.
Thank you and God bless you--Joe will be missed!!

He was such a fine man who meant a lot to Bill Sr. and Tim as a fellow educator as well as to Billy and Pat and to me as a friend. He was a man who inspired so many people, did so much professionally and yet was a warm and friendly person. May his soul Rest In Peace.

Mr, Coleman had my respect and admiration. He was a wonderful Christian man who was so good inside. We all knew it and felt we had a great man at the helm. He was a fair man above all. I never doubted his good judgement. For those who knew him, we have no doubt his soul resides with Jesus Christ. I will miss knowing he is somewhere here but do know he is with God .Joe, you were the epitome of a fine educator and a man of true character. God Bless you ... we were blessed by your presence in our lives.

Tom told me about the passing of your father. I was privileged to meet him several times at your home for special events. He was always so gracious and kind to me. I am so sorry about your loss and the void this brings into your life. Your children had a wonderful grandfather who was an excellent role model for them and have great memories that will last a lifetime. I pray that he has found peace and happiness beyond this world!!

I fondly recall at Cortland chasing a constantly talking Joe flying up stairs two steps at a time. Pausing momentarily to graciously step aside with a greeting and smile allowing someone to pass by. Then Joe would be off two steps at a time.
Joe by all acounts positively touched so many lives in so many capacities, and, locations. What a wonderful legacy, thanks, Joe.

I was so saddened to hear that Joe had passed away. In my 32 years as a teacher and coach I worked under 6 different sperintendents. Joe Coleman was the best! Our professional relationship was great, but our personal connection was even better. He always took the time to write notes of praise if the wrestling team had success. I saved every one. I loved him. Hugh Moyer---teacher/wrestling coach Lafayette
