Carol Mercer was part of my life as long as I can remember. She used to tell people that she had known me since before I was born. Carol and Bud were very dear friends with my parents, from the time they were all newly weds in Pittsburgh before WWII. Despite distance between their homes after the war, they remained in touch, and influenced my family's move to Upstate New York, as well as my parents' place of retirement in Punta Gorda, Florida. After my parents' deaths, Carol became a second mother to me when I retired to Florida as well. For many years we drove back and forth to Florida, sharing laughter, deep discussions and occasionally downright silliness. I loved her, valued her, and miss her.

My sympathy on Carol's passing. She was a "hoot" to be around and so enjoyed her smile and love of life. I knew Carol from Punta Gorda and glad she got to live life to the fullest. Enjoy the memories.

Sad to hear about your passing but Heaven will be a happier place for the other residents there now. I will always cherish the memories of sitting with you for hours at a time sharing memories. I know you will be keeping an eye on me just like you always told me when you were here in Punta Gorda, looking across the pond at my place. Will miss our lunches together at Phil's restaurant. Just feel very lucky having the opportunity to know such a classy and funny lady like you.

Even thou we (Carol & Jim Woods) did not know her that long a pgrvresort, Carol was one of the happiest, nicest, fun loving lady that we met. Never saw her without a smile. Loved watching her riding her John Deere scooter. Carol will be missed by the residents in the park, especially by her family & close friends. Thank you Carol, for your happy smiles.

It became a Great Privilege to have met Carol many years ago at PGRV Resort, Punta Gorda, FL. At the time, having recently had similar calamities in our lives, we were drawn together.
However, due to her persistent upbeat personality, I felt a need to seek her friendship.
She seemed to live each day with humor and a positive outlook for the future.
For too few in number years,---- we shared (with enjoyment) in many Good (and bad) times.
And I was proud to have gained the friendship of a Great Lady.

I had the privilege of meeting Carol when I became the Manager at Punta Gorda RV Park. She was truly a remarkable woman, she would come into the office and just crack me up with her humor. We were so glad to be able to celebrate her turning 100, with everyone sending her cards. She will be missed here as well as by her family and friends in New York.
