Douglas Charles Rice, Sr., 68, died peacefully at home on April 24, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of Baldwinsville and had worked for over 30 years in the auto sales industry at Van Wie Chevrolet and Honda City. Doug was a “handy man” and enjoyed carpentry as well as fishing, golfing, and drawing. His greatest passion was spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his father Carl Rice and his sister Margaret Tyner. Doug is survived by his wife Kristina Lussen; his mother Catherine Rice; his children Denise Cali, Douglas (Dawn) Rice, Jr., Sean (Debra) Rice, Hester (Collin Custer) Rice, Matthew Rice, and Courtney (fiancé Ryan Joslin) Rice; his siblings Michael C. (Jeanne) Rice, Stephen P. Rice, and George Peter (Michelle) Rice; his grandchildren Timothy Cali, Jr., Patrick Cali, Steven Cali, Chelsea Rice, Eric Rice, Nathan Rice, Tyler Rice, Trevor Rice, Mercedes Rice, Madison Rice, Arabella Johnson; 5 great grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Bernadette Rice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 29 at St. Mary’s Church at 9:30 am. Callings hours will be held Thursday, April 28, 2016, from 5-7 pm at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
