A native of Baldwinsville, NY he graduated from high school there in 1943. Volunteering for the U.S. Navy, he was assigned to radio-radar technician training and subsequently, the Pacific Fleet. Returning to Syracuse to resume his studies, Alfred and Virginia Creg were married June 7, 1947 in the First United Methodist Church in Baldwinsville. Graduating in 1949, they moved to Seattle, WA, working for the Boeing Airplane Company, In the Fall of 1950, Alfred joined the General Electric Company. Mr. Johnson was a member of both the First United Methodist Church of Baldwinsville and Trinity United Methodist Church of Tallahassee. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering fraternity, life member of the IEEE Institute, life member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). Alfred is survived by his wife, Virginia Crego Johnson; his daughter, Holly Thayer of Tallahassee, FL; his son, Wayne (Pam) of Tallahassee and son, Eric (Kelly) of St. Augustine, FL; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11:00am Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice,1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee. FL 32308.
