Obituary of Joseph R. Barrett

Joseph Robert Barrett, 81, of Baldwinsville, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 5, 1934 in Larksville, PA. He graduated from St. Vincent’s High School in Plymouth, PA. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the U.S. Post Office with 25 years of service, as a postal supervisor, in Elmira, NY. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family on Keuka Lake. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin and Nellie (nee McGill) Barrett, and siblings Bernadine, Marie, Martin, John, Bob, and James. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Evelyn (nee Kovaleski) Barrett. They were married in St. John’s Church, Larksville, PA. He is also survived by sons Joseph (Donna) Barrett, Tom (Mary Kay) Barrett; daughter Barbara Ellis; grandchildren Danielle Barrett, Jessica (John) Copeland, Olivia Barrett, Mary (Scott) Roehm, Michael, James, and Ryan Ellis, and Christopher Barrett; great grandchildren Jack and Joey Copeland, and Evelyn Grace Roehm; and sister Helen Fertal of Venice, FL. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at Falardeau Funeral home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville, NY. A mass of Catholic burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Baldwinsville, with a graveside service to be held immediately thereafter at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Baldwinsville.
