Obituary of Judith Manley Dreher

Judith Dreher died peacefully 9 October of pancreatic cancer at her home in Baldwinsville. Mrs. Dreher, daughter of Marvin E. Manley and Anne Schulkin, was born on 6 April 1948 in Canarsie, .NY. She was a graduate of River Dell High School, Ordell, New Jersey, and of The Manhattan School of Music in New York City. She studied viola with John DiJanni of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and at The Manhattan School of Music with Rafael Bronstein. After a season in North Carolina with the Charlotte Symphony, she moved to Syracuse, where she was employed by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, with whom she performed for the next thirty-six years until its untimely FALL in 2011. She continued with the SSO's successor, Symphoria, until her retirement at the end of the 2013-14 season. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Dreher; her daughter, Rebecca Dreher; three stepchildren, Joseph (Kaori) Dreher of Kyoto, Japan; Elizabeth (Mikael) Tillstrom, of Ostersund, Sweden; and Amy Dreher of Brooklyn, NY Services: 11:00 am Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Falardeau Funeral Home in Baldwinsville with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4:00pm – 7:00:pm Wednesday , October 14, 2015, at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street. Contributions: In lieu of flowers to the Humane Association Of CNY, 4915 1/2 W. Taft Road, Liverpool, NY 13088.
