Thomas William Sprole Tom, 71, died peacefully on August 21, 2015 at home in Cortland, NY after a life well lived. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Sprole. Tom was born in Baltimore, MD on November 5, 1943, and graduated from Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY. He was mechanically minded and worked in a variety of jobs in New York and North Carolina, including commercial machinery and HVAC. A lifetime racing fan, he followed NASCAR and was a terror on the demolition derby track. Tom was a longtime member of the Baptist Church and recently the Cortland Valley Baptist Church in Cortland. Known for his wry wit and compassion, he was loved by all who knew him. Tom is survived by his mother, Anne C. Sprole of Baldwinsville, NY; brother Gregory Sprole (Cheryl) of Charlotte, NC; brother Richard Sprole (Susan) of Westdale, NY; brother Paul Sprole (Diane) of Morris, IL; and brother Douglas Sprole (Lee) of Baldwinsville, NY; and many nieces and nephews. The family is greatly appreciative for the loving care given to Tom at Liberty Resources, a Brain Injury and Rehabilitation Center in Cortland. The family also extends thanks to the staff at Cortland Hospital, the staff at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC, the Cortland Valley Baptist Church and Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 5pm on August 25 at the Cortland Valley Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or the Cortland Valley Baptist Church, Po. Box 5591, Cortland, NY 13045
