Henry L. "Hank" Besaw, 88 of Mattydale passed away Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on February 23, 1927 in Watertown the son of the late Henry W. and Helen E. Frazier Besaw. Hank was a graduate of Eastwood High School and member of Eastwood High School Alumni Association. He served in the Air Force during WWII and was a life member of VFW Post #3146 in Mattydale. Hank retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1988 after 20 ½ years of service, and was member of the Electrical Union Local #79 and a member of the Niagara Mohawk Pension Club. Prior to Niagara Mohawk, he was with Trailmobile Inc. for 10 years and also with Tom Grover Associates, Inc. After retiring Hank assisted several local funeral homes in the Syracuse area since 1989. He was a life member of Pastime Athletic Club and Vice President of GSIOC, he also was a life member and past president of the Maple Bay Anglers Club. Hank was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, usher for 50 years and past president of St. Margaret's Holy Name Society. Predeceased by his wife Maude M. Besaw March 16, 1999 and son H. William Besaw December 9, 1999. Survived by daughter Karen R. (John) Meehan of West Seneca; son Mark S. (Bette) Besaw of Geddes; daughter-in-law Joan Besaw of Cicero; half-sisters, Sally Lee of Hilton, NY, Nancy Williamson of Brooksville, FL and Judy Zonver of Nashville, TN; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a close friend Kathy Epolito; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday July 27, 2015 at 10am in St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Calling hours are 2-5pm Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street Baldwinsville.
