Obituary of Robert D Burgess

Robert D. Burgess, 89, of Baldwinsville died Monday, June 8, 2015 at The Cottages at Garden Grove. He was born in and raised in Ithaca. He graduated from the School of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. Bob worked as a Landscape Engineer at Sargent- Webster- Crenshaw & Folley- Architects & Engineers. He served in the Army with the 78th Division during WWII and earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart in the Battle of the Bulge. Bob was a life member of VFW 153 and American Legion 113 in Baldwinsville. He also was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 and past Commander of Military order of the Purple Heart Chapter of Syracuse. Bob was an avid boater and wintered in florida with his wife Eleanor and their friends. Bob is predeceased by his beloved wife Eleanor in 2011 and his son, Gerald Yerdon; sisters Eleanor Masronardi, Dorothy Myer, Florence Martin, Pauline Nase Wurzel; brothers Archie Burgess & Donald Burgess. Survivors: Daughters Christine Evans and Rosemary Gilmore, both of Baldwinsville; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services: Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 11am at Falardeau Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, June 10, 2015, 4 to 7pm at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
