Robert H. Collins, 78, of Baldwinsville and Chazy Lake, NY passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born in Lyon Mountain, NY the son of Delima and Leonard Collins. Bob grew up and went to school there. He worked there for a short time for Republic Steel. Bob later joined the Army during the Korean War. After serving in the military he moved to Syracuse. He worked for Crucible Steel for 37 years, retiring in 1991. He was a crane operator and locomotive engineer. Bob was a life member of the VFW Post #153 and American Legion Post #113 and a member of the Baldwinsville First United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He liked gardening, playing horseshoes, crossword puzzles and spending his summers at the lake. Survivors: his wife of 52 years, the former Elsie Gillette; four sons, Robert K. (Amy) Collins of Canadaigua, Scott (Kim) Collins of Baldwinsville, Tim Collins of Baldwinsville and Craig Collins of Syracuse; six granddaughters, three grandsons, and two great-granddaughters; three sisters, Geraldine of Plattsburg, Violet of Chataugay, NY and Sylvia of Ft. Covington; two brothers, Roland of Cadyville and Donald of Lyon Mountain. Services: 7:00pm Friday, July 11, 2008, at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7pm Friday at the funeral home, 93 Downer St. prior to the service. Contributions: Hospice Of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088-6148
