Frederick L. Collins, 78, of Baldwinsville passed away peacefully with his family by his side Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Francis House. He was born in Syracuse and lived on the North side and then moved to Baldwinsville. Fred owned and operated Collins Sports World until his retirement and previously had been with Prudential for many years. He was the first live kidney donor in Upstate New York on July 9, 1974. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW Post #153 and American Legion Post #113. An avid sports fan, Fred played minor league baseball with the Boston Red Sox Farm System. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and served on the cemetery committee. He was a member of Ironwood Golf Course, Baldwinsville Moose Lodge #644, Knights of Columbus Council #5082 and the Chamber of Commerce. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Hilda and Lawrence Collins and a brother, James of Oswego. Survivors: his wife of 53 years, Marie; children Susan (Brian) Wolken, Mike (Lisa) Collins, Larry (Pat) Collins all of Baldwinsville and Patti (Jack) Payette of Onondaga Hill; his sister-in-law, Angie Collins of Oswego and 11 grandchildren. Services: 8:30am Monday, January 29, 2007 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville and 9:00am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-8pm Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street.
