DeWitt I. Pero, 85, of Cato died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at the Veterans Medical Center, Syracuse. He was born in Seneca Hill and has lived in the Cato area for the last 50 years. He received his BS from Purdue University and was an Army Veteran of WWII. While in the military as a surgical technician, DeWitt served in Eqypt, Libya, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno and Sicily. He was a recipient of both the Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He retired as manager of the Syracuse University Steam Station after 20 years and had previously retired as manager of Solvay Process Hydrogen Peroxide Plant.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Iris B.; a daughter Collette of Richmond, VA; two sons, Ty of Mount Vernon, NY and Pepper of LaFayette, IN; and 3 nephews.
Services will be private. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Oswego at the convenience of the family. Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville has charge of arrangements.
