Joseph M. Jackson, 91, of Baldwinsville, formerly of Toronto and Skaneateles, passed away on May 30, 2005 at Francis House in Syracuse, NY. Born in Perryville, MD at Ingleside Farm, Joe was a graduate of the Tome School and Johns Hopkins University, class of 1935, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Having worked his way up through the ranks of the company, Joe became President of Leeds & Northrup Canada, Ltd. Striking out on his own, he became owner and President of THA Technical Industries Ltd. in Toronto. He was a member of the American Instrument Society and Professional Engineers of Canada. In retirement, Joe became an enthusiastic participant in the Skaneateles community with a special fondness for the Skaneateles Rotary Club, never missing a meeting in 10 years. He also enjoyed his involvement with the Skaneateles-Auburn Model Airplane Club, but perhaps his greatest joy during his years in Skaneateles was his position of Crossing Guard for the young school children. He moved to Baldwinsville in 1999 continuing his passion for cars and, until a few weeks ago, was restoring a 1967 Datsun 1600 roadster. Many Baldwinsville residents will fondly remember Joe as “the have a happy day man”. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothea (Murphy); children, Gail Jackson (Ted) Strobeck of Baldwinsville, NY and Susan Willard Jackson of Bainbridge Island, Washington; grandsons, Jeffrey C. and Timothy J. Strobeck; a brother, Henry C. Jackson of Elkton, Maryland. Joe is predeceased by his daughter, Polly Hoyt Jackson. Friends may call at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville, Wednesday, June 1, 2005 from 5-7pm. Internment in the Jackson family plot will be Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Hopewell Cemetery, Port Deposit, Maryland. Lee A. Patterson & Son, Perryville, Maryland is in charge of arrangements. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Francis House 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
