Jules A. Ujlaky, 62, of Baldwinsville died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse after a courageous battle with cancer. During the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, with a simple compass, he led his mother to the West, to freedom. He was an officer at Syracuse Savings Bank for 25 years and past President of their Life Insurance Department. He was employed by Onondaga County for 13 years; was a past Lieutenant Governor of the NY State Optimist Club, and past President of the Baldwinsville Optimist Club. Jules was very active in the Baldwinsville Boy Scouts for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Baldwinsville. Survivors: his devoted wife of 32 years, Vicki Davie Ujlaky; three daughters, Katie (Brad Vander Ark) Ujlaky of Grand Rapids, MI, Jennifer (Eric Grems) Ujlaky of Virginia Beach, VA and Vickie Lynne (Roger DuFresne) Ujlaky of Syracuse; one son, James Ujlaky of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Erzsebet Sipos of Budapest, Hungary and Margit Gensch of Dresden, Germany; an aunt, Katie (Jim) Hay-DeSantis of Fairfield, IA; grandchildren, Remington and Renie DuFresne, and Robert Grems; several nieces and nephews; and his German Wired-Hair Pointer, Toby. Services: 10:00am Monday, April 25, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, Baldwinsville. Burial will be at 1:00pm Monday at the Bellona Cemetery, Bellona, NY. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9pm Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Contributions: Hope for the Bereaved Butterfly Garden, Liverpool, NY.
