Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Francis J. Procopio, age 70, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville. He was born in Fulton and following graduation from Fulton High School entered Syracuse University. His major in broadcasting led him to Channel 3 where he worked for 35 years in the technical department, film editing, programming and sales. He then spent two years at the Child Care Council in computer management. Later he worked at Meals on Wheels of Syracuse where he was in charge of computer management and logistics, retiring in July 2000. After successfully surviving cancer in 1978, he became a lay visitor for Hospice and was a charter member of Cancermount in 1980. He lectured to medical students on the art of understanding patients’ needs. The losses imposed upon him by polio at 15 did not crush his spirit. As he used to say, “Life is filled with small victories.” An avid bird watcher, he also enjoyed cards, backgammon, cribbage and Mah Jongg. He was a member of CNYPC Users group, a volunteer driver for Baldwinsville Meals on Wheels, a leader of church youth groups and a chaperone for speed roller skating groups. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Joan, of 21 years; son, Michael Procopio of Virginia; daughter, Lisa Moon of Camillus; brother, John Procopio of Fulton; stepdaughters, Cathy Lott of Wisconsin, Betsy Lott of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services: A memorial Gathering will be held at the McHarrie Towne Center, 2464 Betsy Drive, Baldwinsville, on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at 4:00 pm. Contributions: McHarrie Towne Residents Association, Towne Center, 2464 Betsy Drive, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
