Mary Yourst, 91, of formerly of South Ivy Trail, passed away Tuesday morning, October 26, 2004 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Syracuse. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mary was born August 30, 1913 in North Jackson, OH, a daughter of Michael and Karolin Bodnar Kuzniak, and lived most of her life in the area. She was a homemaker and also worked for five years at the General Electric’s Mazda Lamp Plant in the 1930’s. She was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was active in many church activities, especially as a pyrohy worker. She was a past member of the Kent State University Mother’s Club, a former Girl Scout Leader, and was a precinct poll worker. Her husband, Steve Yourst, whom she married on July 4, 1938, died January 5, 1996. She leaves two daughters, Carole Kline of Baldwinsville and Patricia (John) Koontz of Kent; a son, Steve (Connie) Yourst of Vestal, NY; a sister, Millicent Laufman of South Bend, IN; 7 grandchildren, Christopher and Melinda Kline, Wendy Koontz, Darci Houser, Darci Houser, Mark and Matt Yourst and Melanie Schmidt; and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn; a brother, Stanley Kuzniak; a sister, Anne Balint and a son-in-law, Ronald Kline. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Friday, October 29, 2004 at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, OH. Funeral services will be held at 9:15am Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the funeral home, and at 10:00am at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown, OH. A committal service will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Van Duyn Nursing Fund (4th Floor Activities), Van Duyn Home & Hospital, 5075 West Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY 13215.
