Obituary of Barbara M. Lyons

Loving wife, mother, sister and friend, Barbara M. Lyons, 76, of Baldwinsville passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004 after a brief illness at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse. The daughter of Henry and Kathryn Meagher, she was born in Springfield, MA and had lived in Camillus for almost 40 years. She then lived in Hilton Head, SC for 10 years before moving to Baldwinsville in May of this year. She was a graduate of Elms College in Chicopee, MA and studied for her Masters in Psychology at Syracuse University. Barbara was a counselor at O.C.C. for ten years and worked for OnBank for many years before retiring as a manager in 1989. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Fairmount where she served as president of the Altar Rosary Society and later a communicant of St. Joseph's in Camillus. Barbara was also a volunteer at the Coastal Discovery Museum in Hilton Head. Her husband, Charles R. Lyons, passed away in 1997. A gregarious intellectual, Barbara equally loved the arts, reading, discussing current events and spending time with family and friends. Survivors: 2 daughters, Barbara A. Lozott of Baldwinsville and Catherine M. Misiaszek of Fernandina, FL; 4 sons, Evan C. of Minoa, NY, David J. of Waterbury, VT, Christopher R. of Saratoga Springs, NY and James H. of Geneseo, NY; 1 sister, Helen Stocks of Venice, FL; 1 brother, James Meagher, Esq of Banning, CA; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services: 10:00am Thursday, October 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Church Baldwinsville. Burial will be at St. Francis by the Sea Columbarium, Hilton Head, SC. Calling hours are 4-8pm Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. Contributions: American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Road, E.
