Roger Frederick Arnold, 82, of Liverpool died peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 in the company of Audrey, his wife of 52 years. A native of Syracuse, Roger lived in Liverpool for over 50 years. Roger was a Tank Commander in WWII, serving in the European theater. Upon discharge from the Army, Roger came back to Syracuse and spent the majority of his work life with Hall & McChesney, retiring from there in 1987 after 36 years of service. Roger was by nature a quiet man, but those who knew him felt his deep love for his family, friends and country. Roger was predeceased by his granddaughter Paige Arnold. Survivors include his wife Audrey (Vielie), sons Roger (Margo) of E. Amherst, Chris (Ellen Yeomans), and daughter Cathy VanBrocklin of Baldwinsville; grandchildren Michael, Joshua and Alexandra Arnold, Erin and Nicole VanBrocklin, Jennifer (DeLand) Schouten, and Eric and Sean DeLand; great-grandson Ryan Schouten. Services: Calling hours will be held 4-7pm Friday, October 1, 2004 at Christ Community United Methodist Church, 3474 Stiles Road off Route 690. A memorial service will be held at the church on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 11:00am, with a luncheon to follow. Internment will be a private ceremony at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in Roger’s name can be made to Paige’s Butterfly Run, an organization created in his granddaughters’ memory to fight pediatric cancer at PO Box 494 Baldwinsville NY 13027, Christ Community United Methodist Church at 3474 Stiles Rd. Syracuse NY 13209 or Hospice of CNY at 990 7th North St. Liverpool NY 13088. Falardeau Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
