Joseph Ritter, 87, of Baldwinsville passed away on July 14, 2004 in his home. Born in 1917 in Depew, NY, Joseph was a veteran of WWII. He obtained a Bachelors Degree from Oswego, and attended NYU and Columbia University to earn his Masters Degree in Administration. In 1943, Joseph wed Virginia Holford of Hudson, NY. The family moved to Baldwinsville in 1952, where Joseph spent 26 years as an Elementary school principal. He retired in 1971. Joseph was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association, Baldwinsville First Presbyterian Church, and the Baldwinsville Lions Club, where he was a 51 year member. Joseph was an avid fisherman and spent many hours volunteering for Meals-On-Wheels and the Syracuse Home Association. Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Virginia Holford. He is survived by his son, Joseph Andrew Ritter of Somerville, NJ; daughter, Sarah (Sally) Ritter Reinschmidt of Andover, NY; granddaughters, Michelle Ritter of Easton, PA and Amanda Reinschmidt of Essex Junction, VT; a grandson, Michael Reinschmidt of Andover, NY. In memory of Joseph Ritter, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 3:00pm. The service will be held at the Lions’ Park Community Building on Maple Road (Rt. 48) in Baldwinsville. Contributions may be made to the Baldwinsville Lions Club, PO Box 108, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corp., PO Box 744, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
