John "Jack" J. Gallup, 65, of Baldwinsville formerly of Pennellville and Lysander, died peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Syracuse Home where he was cared for by the kind and dedicated staff. Jack was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Navy. He was employed for 25 years by the United Parcel Service and retired from Teamsters Local 317 in 1991, when he became disabled. Jack loved children. He had been a former Boy Scout Leader and a National Rifle Association gun safety instructor and volunteer. Jack and his wife had played Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus for many events throughout the Baldwinsville and Syracuse communities. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville, where he had previously taught religious education courses. Jack was predeceased by a son, Joel, and a brother, Thomas of Saginaw, MI. Surviving are his loving and dedicated wife of 44 years, the former Mary T. Sciacca; a daughter, Maria (Doug) Sherwood of Savannah, NY; 2 sons, John (Kelly) of Baldwinsville and Jody (Cheryl) of Auburn; 7 grandchildren, Joel "J.J." and Joseph Sosenko, Jeffrey and Sarah Gallup, Jackie (Wayne) Podeswick, Joshua and Jody, Jr. Gallup; a sister, Midge McAlistar of Saginaw, MI; 3 brothers, Robert of Syracuse, William of Martinsburg, WV, and James of Onalaska, WI; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Services: 9:30am Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville and 10:00am at St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9pm Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at the funeral home, 93 Downer St. Contributions: Syracuse Home Association, 7740 Meigs Rd., Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
