Obituary of Rosalind H. Pristash

Rosalind Hopkins Pristash 76, of Dewitt, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Dr. Charles F. Elliott, in Fayetteville. A graduate of The Convent School, she attended Syracuse University and Powelson Business Institute. She was employed by Niagara Mohawk prior to and after serving as a WAVE during the Korean Conflict. She was later employed by Bishop Grimes High School and by Burns Brothers Concrete Construction. A member of Holy Cross parish in Dewitt for more than 40 years she was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a former member of the Parish Council. She was predeceased by her parents, P. Augustus and Florence Tormey Hopkins, a brother, Christopher J. Hopkins and two sisters, Patricia Hopkins Moran and Genevieve Hopkins Bardenett. Surviving are two sons, Jerome P. Pristash of Bath, and Kevin P. Pristash of Cortland; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Pristash of Cortland; 4 grandchildren, Nicole Pristash of Liverpool, and Brian, Sarah and Theodore Pristash of Cortland; two brothers, Joseph T. Hopkins of Niskayuna and St. Augustine, FL and Peter A. Hopkins of Lake Placid; four sisters, Kathleen Hopkins Elliott of Fayetteville, Adelaide Hopkins Ealy of Rochester, Mary Martha Hopkins Hanlon of Syracuse and Mary Millicent Hopkins Hastings of East Syracuse and Naples, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be 4-7pm Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Holy Cross Church, Dewitt. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, April 11, 2003 at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Falardeau Funeral Home has arrangements. Flowers should be sent to the funeral home, however, in lieu of flowers the family encourages contributions in her memory be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse NY 13208.
