Donald I. Stoetzel, 68, of Baldwinsville died Thursday, January 30th at home with his family at his side. Born in Syracuse, he lived in North Syracuse until moving to Baldwinsville in 2000. He graduated from North High School in 1952 and recently celebrated his 50th anniversary of the North Side City baseball championship. He retired in 1989 from UPS after 31 years of service where he was instrumental in initiating and supporting action that many feel brought about positive changes in the pension plan. He was also a long time union steward for UPS. He served in the Army National Guard for seven years. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. After retirement, he began a successful mail order book business from his home and recently wrote his first book on the colonial wars which has been accepted for publication. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Barbara Ann Drake; three sons, Mark W. and Kris M. of No. Syracuse and Jon I. Of Baldwinsville and four grandchildren. Services are at 12:15pm Monday at Falardeau Funeral Home, Inc., Baldwinsville and 1:00pm in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 137 Gertrude St., No. Syracuse. Burial in White chapel Memory Gardens in Dewitt. Calling hours are 2-4 & 7-9pm Sunday at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street. Contributions may be made to the American diabetes Association or Hospice of CNY.
